Replacement Tip Installation

Equipment Needed:

• Hot glue gun
• 1-inch hockey tape
• Hairdryer

Instructions:

1. Remove Tip from Shaft: To remove the tip from the shaft, it will have to be heated. This can be done with the hairdryer or by running the end of the stick, at the tip, under hot water. Ensure heat is applied to the where the insert is in the shaft. If you are reusing the same tip, clear all old glue from the tip and shaft. If the hockey tape on the tip is damaged during this process, add a new strip of tape starting at the base of the front, over the top, and down to the base of the back of the insert.
2. Apply Hockey Tape: If using a new tip, apply a strip of tape starting at the base of the front, over the top, and down to the base of the back of the insert.
3. Apply Glue: Apply a generous amount of hot glue around the base of the insert, along the sides, and in an “S” pattern on both the front and back of the insert. Using an adequate amount of glue ensures a long-lasting bond.
4. Insert the Tip: While the glue is still hot, immediately insert the tip into the shaft. Press firmly to secure the tip. Press the tip against the ground to ensure it is fully inserted into the shaft.
5. Dry and Remove Excess Glue: Allow the glue to dry completely. Once dried, remove any excess glue around the seam between the tip and the shaft.
6. Reheat Glue if Needed: If the glue cools before you insert the tip, reheat it using the hottest setting on a hairdryer and then insert it into the shaft. This will ensure the glue is hot enough to create a secure bond.
7. Test Before Use: Ensure the tip is firmly secured in the shaft before using it on the ice.
